Roger Waters New Album

Roger Waters New Album

Now that Roger Waters has finished his epic 219 date tour of The Wall, he has some time on his hands to be working on his next studio album.

Roger said in a Rolling Stone interview that he has now recorded a 55 minute demo of his new rock opera album, the first since Amused to Death in 1992.

“I finished a demo of it last night. It’s 55 minutes long. It’s songs and theatre as well. I don’t want to give too much away, but it’s couched as a radio play. It has characters who speak to each other, and it’s a quest. It’s about an old man and a young child trying to figure out why they are killing the children.”

More Wall Concerts?

Roger also did not rule out the possibility of playing more Wall concerts, although he does seem to be in need of a break from it for a while.

“I’m suffering a little bit of withdrawal after ending the Wall tour,” he says. “It’s sort of a relief to not have to go out and do that every night, but they’re such a great team. There were 180 of us together everyday. That piece was very moving every night.”

On doing more Wall concerts, Roger said, “I’m not thinking about that right now,” he says. “But that’s not to say I won’t. I think there’s an audience there. We did do 219 shows, which is a lot.”

The Wall Live DVD?

As well as working on his new rock opera studio album, I hope Roger is working on the production of The Wall Live DVD. Several shows were recorded from the epic tour and I am sure many of us fans would love to get a copy of the show on DVD to relive the amazing event. Although the show was certainly a thing to go and see live to feel the thud of sound in your chest and appreciate the visuals from the show, having a nice cup of tea and sitting back to relive those glorious moments would be quite a thing in itself.

David Gilmour Album?

Crosby Stills and Nash have been working with David Gilmour recently recording David’s new studio album so its not just Roger Waters at it! More details on that as they become available.

Roger Waters Wall Tour 2013

Roger Waters Wall Tour 2013

There are only 17 Roger Waters tour dates remaining on what is probably his last tour of The Wall, and perhaps any album. Quite sad really considering us fans have been waiting for years for a new albums from Roger which he often refers to in interviews, though details and completion dates remain relatively unknown. I hope Roger puts this “rock album” out that he has been working on for years and treats us all to some new music and gives us something to think about as Roger Waters solo albums often do!

I would like to announce at some point in future that there is a new Roger Waters new rock album tour but, for now, we have the magnificent Wall tour which has been perfected since its launch in 2010. They really have been on the road for some time haven’t they? Although the crew and performers have had some chunky breaks along the way, it really must take some impressive physical and mental strength to be able to perform that many times (over 200 shows now) and keep entertaining us fans!

Right, as there is a strong possibility you will not see a show as great as The Wall again in your lifetime, I think you should check the Roger Waters tour dates out below and see if he is stopping at a country near you! Treat yourself to a ticket or two and see something that is truly spectacular, not to mention award winning!

Professional Photography at Wembley?

I am going to watch Roger Waters at Wembley Stadium on 14th September 2013 and cannot wait, I am getting really excited now. However, I am a little disappointed that I cannot take my DSLR camera as I just bought a new wide angle camera lens which I would have liked to have taken to the show to get some photography done at Wembley Stadium. I fear the stewards would not let me in with a professional camera if I took it to the show. I guess I could pester Roger Waters manager to see if I could get press accreditation to take photographs at the show with my professional camera, but I would be successful. Email sending…

I watched The Wall show last year at the Manchester Evening News arena in England and was an amazing show. You can watch some videos I recorded from the show on the NPF Youtube channel.  You can go see loads of photos from The Wall tour too from our gallery that kind fans like you have shared with us. If you have any to share, do please get in touch.

David Gilmour at Wembley?

David Gilmour performing at Wembley with Roger Waters is something that I hope happens as Mr Gilmour does not live that far away and would be a very nice thing to do on a Saturday evening! I haven’t heard anything about him playing, and perhaps he would not want to having done it once as a charity arrangement in the past. But I really do hope he turns up!

The Wall Tour DVD

Another thing on my mind is when will that Wall Tour DVD be released that is being worked on? Several shows have been filmed and some very nice footage was shared from when David Gilmour joined Roger Waters at the O2 Arena and performed on Comfortably Numb. That exact footage may not appear in the final DVD of The Wall t0ur, but watching an amazing performance like that on DVD would be great, especially if the release date of The Wall Tour DVD was just in time for Christmas 2013! We can live in hope. Seems like a fair time for it to be released as the tour ends in September as is currently announced, but I guess Roger Waters does have a habit of surprising people and announcing more legs to the tour. Perhaps we should start calling it the “Centipede Show” it has had so many legs???

Right, I have rambled on long enough. Check the Roger Waters tour dates out below and get some tickets sorted or you could well regret it! Feel free to leave a comment on this post too!
